“ I began painting at a time when my body felt like a prison; painting became my language, my refuge, the only space where I could transmute suffering into something tangible. With each brushstroke, I sought to reclaim control over what eluded me, to redefine my body beyond the gaze of others, to restore its meaning beyond mere appearance.
I have been a muse, an object of desire, a body laid bare when before I was ever a voice. But I am also a painter, an observer, a narrator. Through oil on canvas, I explore the tension between being seen and wanting to be seen, between possessing control and relinquishing it.
The female body has long been a site of conquest, a vessel for consumption, a symbol onto which desires and fears are projected. In my work, I subvert this dynamic: I paint women in spaces where they are both subject and object, predator and prey, liberated yet confined.”
