Monika K. Adler is a photographer and filmmaker working across London, Paris, and New York for over twenty-five years, blurring the boundaries between analog and digital imagery. At the core of her practice lies bodily sovereignty, unedited desires, and a radical stance against the sterile mechanisms of approval imposed by contemporary society. In the uncanny balance between flesh and marble, indulgence and ruin, the artist exposes the obscured recesses of the human soul through her lens. Feeding on the tension between surveillance and exhibition, her work invites the spectator into an aesthetic complicity that transcends societal norms.
Throughout her career, Adler has contributed to high-profile projects such as "First Open" for Christie’s, "209 Women" for the UK Parliament, and "Rankin’s 2020" for Sky Arts TV, alongside long-term representation by Art & Commerce and Vogue Italia. Having served as a juror for international photography platforms and nominated for the Royal Photographic Society’s "Hundred Heroines" award, the artist seamlessly expands her narrative into the cinematographic realm. Positioning the taboos of human nature, sin, and delicacy as simultaneous instruments of resistance, Adler leaves the viewer alone with a timeless, marble gaze within fleeting touches.
