Mina Kocailik is a multidisciplinary artist producing paintings, writings, and performances. For the artist, art represents a search for meaning. In her painting practice, Kocailik adopts a process-oriented approach, focusing on creating space for uncertainty, embracing improvisation, and maintaining creative curiosity. Utilizing acrylic and collage techniques, the artist shapes her work through vibrant colors, detailed patterns, intuitive layers, abstractions, and naive figures. Rather than recreating reality, Kocailik prioritizes highlighting the imagination and producing images that stimulate the viewer's own visionary power.
Kocailik places great value on words; she writes poetry to describe her paintings, incorporates written expressions into her compositions, or creates paintings inspired by poetry. The artist's practice is nourished by stories of transformation, psychology, mythology, esotericism, feminism, and philosophical thought, aiming to create experiences that contribute to the viewer's personal search for meaning.
Born in Istanbul in 1989, Mina Kocailik began painting in 2014. She has been working as an independent artist since 2018. Having previously produced art on the streets abroad and later between Istanbul and Kayaköy, Kocailik has been continuing her practice in Istanbul since 2026.
