Giulia Filippi (b. 1990) maintains an interdisciplinary practice positioned at the intersection of visual arts and digital design. Having studied Visual Arts at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Milan, she subsequently relocated to Berlin's vibrant cultural landscape to expand her practice through photography, German language studies, and career coaching. This fluid exchange between design principles and intuitive visual narrative forms the foundation of her aesthetic idiom.
Filippi's output operates across illustration, photography, and digital art. Alongside freelance collaborations with fashion agencies and art galleries, her practice stands out through an immaculate attention to detail and an ability to translate complex conceptual themes into vivid imagery. Recipient of several international awards, her work has been showcased globally across diverse physical and virtual platforms spanning Italy, Germany, South Korea, the UK, the United States, and the Metaverse.
Having deepened her expertise in Graphic, Digital Design & Communication in Vicenza in 2017, Filippi currently focuses on digital art and visual design. She continues to reconstruct contemporary visual culture through layered digital compositions, meticulous illustration, and medium-specific experimentation.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The perfect geometric figure, the circle, is broken in the representation of my logo. This symbol is my mirror: it reflects my vision of the world and it is always associated with my slogan “I try to find beauty in things that are imperfect. Like me”.
I always felt unsatisfied with society’s communication. I have felt “wrong” for years in a world that promotes values of absolute perfection (bodies, job career, family) until I learned to turn my inadequacy into a plus.
I bring the same poetics into my art. I began to distort everything I was given by society: everything seems to be too perfect, too schematic, too pre-set, too symmetrical and at the same time so terribly unreal.
Always hovering between realism and surrealism, between irony and riddles of the modern man, I mix bright colors to give life to an environment where thanks to my art and above all, thanks to multiple self-portrait techniques, I can feel more comfortable, free and real.
