Gamze is a 25-year-old Turkish self-taught artist and computer scientist based in Milan. She works in a very instinctive way, mixing textured acrylics with fine pen lines. Her pieces often sit somewhere between control and spontaneity, where things feel a bit raw but still carefully held together. She is especially interested in those small moments when order slips and something imperfect, emotional, or human shows through.
She started painting when I was young as a hobby, then took a break from art for about four years. In 2025, she came back to it, as a personal need rather than a goal. Since then, painting has become a quiet space for her to be present, honest, and kinder to herself.
Her current collection, Random Access Memories, is also her comeback, which makes it especially meaningful to her. It marks a return not only to painting, but to a part of herself she had put aside. It shows two sides of her: one that is more classic, calm, and put together, and another that is messy, playful, and a little chaotic. The work lives in between these two, where both can exist at the same time.
Artist Statement:
My work exists because it has to. It is not about perfection or decoration. It is about letting what is inside take shape. I let it be as it is, because that is closer to how we exist as humans. Messy, structured, ordered, fragile, controlled, classic and constantly shifting… All those create a space where difference is not something to fix, but something to recognize and honor.
My practice is deeply personal, but not meant to be closed or private. What comes from inside me is not only mine. It is something many people carry inside quietly. I think there is no need to over-polish it or explain it. The works stand as it is, raw, direct, and human.
