Born in Istanbul, Ebru Sıcakyüz is a multidisciplinary artist who blends her aesthetic reflexes rooted in textile design with the plastic language of contemporary painting. After graduating from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Fashion and Garment in 2002, she worked as a professional textile designer for many years, later crowning her structural and linear experience in design with academic painting training. Graduating as the top student of her class from Ege University, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Painting Education Program in 2021 marks the most concrete turning point of the interdisciplinary fluidity in her practice.
In her productions, Sıcakyüz brings together the textural, formal, and compositional accumulation derived from her design background with the autonomous structure of the pictorial surface. The memory of fabric, the dynamic lines of fashion, and the structural power of pattern transform into cultural resonance zones rather than mere forms on her canvases. Refusing to confine her practice to a single medium, the artist continues to produce works that hybridize the functional aspect of design with the inquisitive nature of plastic arts.
