Cihan Çelik’s connection with art is a lifelong narrative that began with a childhood paintbrush and evolved into a defining passion. After establishing his academic foundation in Graphic Design at Başkent University, he further enriched his practice with a master’s degree in Painting from Gazi University, bridging the gap between design precision and painterly expression. The cornerstone of his creative universe remains typography, a discipline he discovered through his early roots in graffiti.
Treating typography not merely as a functional tool but as the very essence of his visual language, Çelik focuses on typography-based paintings. In his journey through contemporary art, he seamlessly blends digital layers with traditional painterly techniques to create unique, serial works. From large-scale murals to delicate book illustrations, the traces of his typographic inquiry are evident across diverse platforms, reflecting an interdisciplinary approach.
With an exhibition history spanning from Athens to Miami and Thessaloniki to Varna, Çelik reinterprets personal and social stories through the power of letterforms and abstract structures. Viewing art as an ever-evolving space of exploration that consistently pushes formal boundaries, he continues to cultivate his vision in his private studio.
